The 2024 Champagne Weekend has come to an end! The three-day champagne extravaganza lit up Shanghai like fireworks. Are you still immersed in the wonderful memories of 100% CHAMPAGNE? Let’s take a look back at these events. Were you there?
From May 24th to 26th, Sparklingplus Asia hosted: 20 diverse champagne-themed events Over 1600+ attendees 1000+ Bottles Champagne 50+ Champagne house owners & representatives participated 15 top-tier champagne masterclasses
Champagne enthusiasts from all over China, as well as from France, Singapore and other regions, gathered in Shanghai to enjoy this 100% champagne-exclusive weekend celebration.
Fifteen masterclasses covered various topics such as vertical tastings, production methods of grower Champagne, rosé Champagne, detailed exploration of terroir, Champagne and gastronomy, Champagne and lifestyle, and a deeper undrstanding of the Champagne. Each session, whether centered on a professional theme, winery focus, or food & champagne pairing, offered participants a deeper understanding of the world of Champagne.

W SHANGHAI-THE BUND offers a panoramic view of the Pudong skyline, with the famous Oriental Pearl Tower in full sight. The highly anticipated 100% CHAMPAGNE grand tasting salon finally kicked off on May 25th.

The event was bustling with wine and champagne lovers, and every booth was extremely popular, whether it was for champagne houses, growers, or high-quality cooperatives. In addition to the standard 750ml bottles, several 1.5L Magnums and 4.5L special Rataga large bottles were also shared with champagne enthusiasts on site.
5/25 Champagne houses participats at grand tasting salon
For this grand tasting salon, we also invited two lecturers, Sam Chen and William Wu, to guide several teams with specific themes to travel through the tasting session. Key terms for various champagnes include biodynamic methods, varying levels of dosage, aging in barrels, and different cultivation and production techniques. These offer endless exploration possibilities for champagne enthusiasts.
On the evening of May 24th, at YongFu, in the North Bund of Shanghai, the Grand Champagne Dinner commenced. Representatives from 12 premium champagne houses attended, bringing their flagship champagnes and limited editions to share with our pretigeous champagne enthusiasts.

The exquisite dishes from YongFu Restaurant paired with the top-notch wine pairing and precise service from TOP|SOMM Studio made this hundred-person Champagne wine pairing feast a perfect presentation.

Sparklingplus Asia and Zachys co-hosted a remarkable champagne-themed auction, where the spirited bidding process elevated the evening’s atmosphere to a climax. Among the coveted items, a champagne trip curated by Sparklingplus Asia fetched an impressive price of ¥50,000, emerging as the highest-priced offering of the event. The proceeds from the auction will contribute to the Sparklingplus Asia Champagne Education Fund, supporting initiatives dedicated to advancing champagne culture education within leading Chinese wine and French language programs. This initiative aims to cultivate new talents for the Chinese wine industry, enabling more individuals to savor the delights of champagne and embrace the refined aspects of life it embodies.

5/24 Grand Champagne Dinner, items up for auction
TOPISOMM Studio, led by Master Sommelier Yang LU, is in charge of wine pairing and sommelier service for the 5/24 Grand CHAMPAGNE Dinner.
The 2024 China Best Champagne List Award ceremony, which belongs to sommeliers and Champagne industry practitioners, was held on the evening of May 25th at W SHANGHAI-THE BUND ,with the witness and cheerful applause from our guests during the luxurious Gala Dinner. More than 150 champagne houses owners and brand representatives, elite sommeliers, representatives from hotels, bars and restaurants, media, and sponsors were invited to attend. This was a pinnacle moment for the national F&B industry, professional sommeliers, and media partners engaged in the Champagne industry!
The banquet presented a total of 34 professional awards and 13 public choice awards. The Shanghai EHB Restaurant, which was opened in 2023-2024, ultimately won the champion in the national best champagne wine list, sweeping three national best awards. Additionally, Richard, the sommelier from EHB Restaurant, also won the national best champagne sommelier award.

Fumée restaurant from Shenzhen was awarded the second place for the Best Champagne List in the country; while Oyster Talks, a French restaurant in Beijing, and Wild Yeast restaurant in Hangzhou were jointly awarded the third place for the Best Champagne List in the country.

The excitement of Grower Champagne Brunch was palpable as all seats sold out almost instantly! On May 26th, the final event of the third edition of 100% CHAMPAGNE 2024 was held at Il Ristorante – Niko Romito at the Bulgari Hotel in Shanghai. 60+ champagne enthusiasts gathered to savor 10 unique grower champagnes, personally introduced by 7 passionate owners. The room was filled with lively conversations and shared passions, as each winemaker mingled with guests, making it a truly interactive and delightful event!
